Abstract:Flos Carthami is a traditional medicine to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and Astragali Radix is a traditional medicine to replenish qi, they are commonly used in treating ischemic stroke in clinic. Ischemic stroke is an acute cerebrovascular disease, also known as cerebral ischemia, with a higher mortality. After cerebral ischemia, a series of responses occur in the brain, leading to inflammation, apoptosis and brain edema. The mechanism of Flos Carthami and Astragali Radix in the treatment of ischemic stroke is mainly through antioxidant scavenging free radicals, inhibiting apoptosis and inflammatory response, and regulating some signaling pathways to play a role in brain protection. The protective mechanism of Flos Carthami and Astragali Radix is complex and has the characteristics of multiple links, multiple pathways and multiple targets. In this paper, the cerebral protective effects and mechanism of Flos Carthami and Astragali Radix in recent years are reviewed, which will provide theoretical basis for further in-depth research and clinical application.
