Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture at shéntáng and nǎohù points combined with repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of post-stroke depression (PSD). Methods A total of 90 patients with PSD admitted to the Department of Rehabilitation, Shijiazhuang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to December 2021 were selected and divided into control group 1, control group 2, and observation group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. Control group 1 was treated with acupuncture at shéntáng and nǎohù points; control group 2 was treated with repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation; observation group was treated with acupuncture at shéntáng and nǎohù points combined with repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation. Four weeks was a course of treatment, after two courses of treatment, the changes of Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) score, National Institutes of Health stroke scale (NIHSS) score, Barthel index, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score, and serum levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine, norepinephrine before and after treatment were compared among the three groups. Results After treatment, HAMD, NIHSS score, and traditional Chinese medicine symptom score of three groups were lower than those before treatment, while Barthel index, serum levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine and norepinephrine were higher than those before treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, HAMD, NIHSS score, and traditional Chinese medicine symptom score of observation group were lower than those of control group 1 and 2, while Barthel index, serum levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine and norepinephrine were higher than those of control group 1 and 2, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The curative effect of the observation group was better than those of the control group 1 and 2, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture at shéntáng and nǎohù points combined with repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation has a remarkable effect in the treatment of PSD, which can improve clinical symptoms and promote the recovery of patients.
