Abstract:Acupuncture and moxibustion has a definite antipruritic effect, but due to many diseases involved, the selection of acupoints is diverse and the use of acupoints is complex. With the key symptom of “skin itching” as the main concern, this paper clarifies that “disharmony between nutrient qi and defensive qi” is the common pathogenesis of itching. Combined with the high-frequency use of acupuncture points to stop itching, it is believed that the prescription composed of qūchí and xuèhǎi acupoint pair is the basic formula for acupuncture to “harmonize yingfen and weifen” to play an antipruritic effect. From the perspective of clinical research, it fully demonstrates the universal applicability of qūchí and xuèhǎi acupoint pair to the antipruritic effect, further summarizes the research progress of qūchí and xuèhǎi acupoint pair on the antipruritic effect mechanism, and believes that the evidence-based medical evidence of acupuncture antipruritic effect should be improved in the future, while deepening the mechanism research of antipruritic effect.
