Abstract:Objective To observe the immediate effect of yin yang balance acupuncture therapy on upper limb motor dysfunction after stroke. Methods A total of 66 stroke patients with upper limb motor dysfunction admitted to the Department of Acupuncture, Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2017 to December 2018 were enrolled as the research subjects. They were divided into the experimental group (33 cases) and the control group (33 cases) according to the random number table method. The experimental group was used the yin yang balance acupuncture therapy, and the treatment plan of the control group was the same as that of the experimental group, but the biomechanical feedback manipulation was not performed. The upper limb simplified Fugl-Meyer assessment scale (FMA) scores were compared before treatment, 10, 20 and 30 min after treatment. Results FMA scores in two groups at 10, 20 and 30 min after treatment were higher than those before treatment; FMA scores in the experimental group at 20 and 30 min after treatment were lower than those at 10 min after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in FMA score between the two groups (P > 0.05). FMA scores in the experimental group were higher than those in control group at 10, 20 and 30 min after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Yin yang balance acupuncture therapy can effectively improve the upper limb motor dysfunction of patients with upper limb paralysis, and the immediate effect is the best 10 min after treatment.
