Analysis of 100 years development trend of Chinese medical patent

Abstract：Objective To reveal the century-old development trend of the Chinese medicine field from the perspective of patents. Methods Innography and incoPat patent analysis platforms were used to analyze the development horizontally and vertically through multiple statistical dimensions such as application trend, grant trend, license amount, and comparisons with other countries. Results China government’s great emphasis on intellectual property had promoted the rapid growth of medical patent applications. The numbers of medical patent applications and grants of China were already in the world’s leading position, and the quality had greatly improved, however, there was a lot of room for development. Conclusion The number of high-value patents in the medical field in China is relatively small, and more attention needs to pay to the patent quality, international layout, patent transformation in the future.
