Cognitive investigation and enlightenment of postpartum depression among obstetric medical staff

Abstract:Objective To investigate the cognitive status of obstetric medical staff on postpartum depression, to analyze related influencing factors, and to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of postpartum depression. Methods From January to February 2019, an online questionnaire survey was used to investigate the cognitive status of obstetric medical staff on postpartum depression by using the postpartum depression cognition questionnaire seven general hospitals and three maternal and child health care hospitals in Yichang area were selected. At the same time, the general information of medical staff was collected, and the factors affecting the cognition of postpartum depression of obstetric medical staff were analyzed. Results A total of 435 obstetric medical staff in ten hospitals were surveyed, of which 427 medical staff completed the questionnaire, and the effective rate of questionnaire recovery was 98.16%. The overall mean score of the postpartum depression cognitive questionnaire was 77.47 points. Comparing the cognitive scores of postpartum depression among medical staff in obstetrics department with different educational levels, positions and work units, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level and position were important factors affecting the cognition of postpartum depression (P < 0.05). Conclusion The overall level of cognitive status of postpartum depression among obstetric medical staff in this area is not high. Hospital management departments and obstetric medical staff should further increase the importance of postpartum depression. At the obstetrics management level, medical staff with different education levels and positions need to conduct regular stratified special training, especially training in postpartum depression assessment and diagnosis methods, to provide guarantee for the further implementation of postpartum depression prevention and treatment.
