Abstract:Objective To analyze the trend of hospitalization expenses and its expense structure in acute leukemia inpatients, and to provide the data-based evidence for policy-making. Methods Descriptive, variance, and trend analyses of acute leukemia inpatient costs, cost structure were performed using inpatient case home data from 77 secondary and tertiary hospitals in Beijing from 2015 to 2019. Results The average cost of acute leukemia hospitalization in Beijing showed an increasing trend from 2015 to 2019 (P<0.05), the differences were statistically significant when comparing the average hospitalization subcosts among different age groups (P<0.05). The main treatment modality of hospitalization for patients with acute leukemia was chemotherapy, and there was a statistically significant difference in the average cost of hospitalization and the average cost of drugs among patients with chemotherapy at different ages (P<0.05). Conclusion The burden of hospitalization costs for acute leukemia patients in Beijing is still relatively high, and the cost of drugs and consumables contributes highly to the hospitalization burden but is on a decreasing trend. It is necessary to pay attention to the hospitalization cost burden of key populations such as children and the elderly, and to make separate calculations of their payment rates in combination with the characteristics of childhood leukemia.
