Abstract:Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus. Previous physicians believed that the pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is qi stagnation and blood stasis. From the reality of clinic, we believe that modern people are fond of eating fat and sweet, easy to produce dampness evil, and “dampness” is an important pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. According to this pathogenesis, we treat one case of diabetic peripheral neuropathy caused by dampness obstruction by invigorating the spleen and dispelling dampness, diffusing dampness, clearing away heat and drying dampness. This therapy can effectively relieve the symptoms of numbness, pain and abnormal sensation of limbs, alleviate the pain of patients and improve their quality of life. The clinical effect is remarkable. This case suggests that dampness pathogenesis should not be neglected in clinical diagnosis and treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which is worthy of clinical reference.
